The Grove is a project that is part of a masterplan for the open public spaces of Neo Psychiko.
The proposal has two parts:
1. The Places- Centers: Squares and open public spaces and
We propose to re-interpret the historical typology of public open spaces: the garden, the square, the park. Each space has its own characteristics, the colors, the sounds, the smells and the way it is inhabited by the users that create its specific atmosphere.
2. The Network: The Pedestrianized Streets
Those Places are nodes of different activities in a network of relationships. Each one has its own distinct characteristics being spaces for all people and animals, from the Euclidean space of the Square to the topological, liquid space of the Park.
The Four Distinct Places are:
a. Hortus Conclusus- the Enclosed Garden: calmness, enclosed spacial system, solitude, garden enjoinment
b. The Urban Square- Plateia Eleftherias: community, open to the city grid, collective activities
c. The Landscape Playground Park: mobility, sculptural space, playfulness
d. The Grove: observation, protected and isolated space for urban wildlife
